Dolores Parker Obituary

Dolores Ann Wright Parker, 89, of Friends Homes at Guilford, passed on from this life into the next phase of her journey on February 6th, 2025. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 15,1935 to Morris Martin Wright and Phyllis Eleanora Wise Wright.

She graduated from Randolph High School in Dayton, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, with a concentration in Math, from Kent State University.

On August 22,1959, she married Douglas Ross Parker, whom she had met at a dance at the local YMCA. The two of them traveled around the country as Doug pursued further studies in education until they eventually settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where they raised their two children.

Over the years she taught math at various schools, and worked as a bookkeeper for J. M. Boswell, Auctioneer, and the US Pony Clubs. She also enjoyed many hobbies including square dancing, playing the piano, singing, knitting, cross-stitch, sudoku and growing pansies.

After a few years in Lexington, Kentucky, where they had followed the USPC when that organization moved their headquarters there from West Chester, PA, she and Doug retired to Greensboro, NC where their daughter had attended Guilford College.

They found many friends at First Friends Meeting where they have been members, and more recently at Friends Homes, where she enjoyed working in the library.

She will be remembered as a loving friend by many.

Dolores is survived by her daughter, Debbie of Durham NC; her son, Martin, of Washington DC; and her sister, Judith of Indianapolis, IN.

Services will be held at Friends Homes at Guilford at 925 New Garden Road, Greensboro, NC on March 16, 2025 at 2pm.
