Zelma Obie-Wingfield, age 82, of Greensboro, North Carolina, peacefully departed her earthly life and entered into eternal rest on December 28, 2025.
She was born in Person County on May 9, 1943 to the late Arthur Obie Sr. and Lois Yancey-Obie. Zelma was a devoted member of the McKnight Mill Road Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She dedicated her life to serving Jehovah from an early age.
Zelma was a kind-spirit who enjoyed life. She lived life with open arms and an open heart. She was an avid lover of the blues and was forever listening to and dancing to the music of her favorite artist B.B. King.
Zelma was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Wingfield; her parents, Arthur Obie Sr., and Lois Yancey-Obie; daughter, Leathia Obie; brothers, Arthur Obie Jr., Calvin Obie, Ted Obie; and her sister, Effie Lee Barnett.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, 2 sons, Morris (Angela) Wingfield and Arnold (Wendy) Thomas; sisters, Thelma (Leon) Bryant, Shirley Obie, and Nannie Crawford; 4 granddaughters, Tasha, Crystal, Nakiah, and India; 3 grandsons, Craig, Derek, and Christopher; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Zelma Obie-Wingfield will be greatly missed and we will forever hold her close to our hearts.
